Lesson 8 The Triumphal Return of the Lord

"And I saw heaven opened; and behold a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war." Revelation 19:11

In this lesson, we see the triumphal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. He comes to liberate the earth from the stronghold of the antichrist. No human being will need to lift their hand in vengeance. Jesus will do the job for us. Paul explains it this way in II Thessalonians 1:7-10, speaking of the antichrist, “whom the Lord will slay with the breath of his mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming”. Daniel 2:34-35 explains it this way, “a stone was cut out without human hands and it struck the statue on its feel of iron and clay (the empire of the antichrist) and crushed them.” Daniel 8:25 elaborates, “He – the antichrist--- will even oppose the prince of princes but he will be broken without human agency”. Daniel 11:45 adds, “and he, the antichrist, will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful holy mountain, yet he will come to his end and no one will help him.”

Reflect
• Read Revelation 19:11-16 for yourself. Describe Jesus from this passage, including what He will look like and what He will do.

• Someday Jesus Christ will reign on the earth with great power and authority. This will be a time of peace, prosperity and blessing. Is there something inside of you that longs for that day?

• This may also be the time of the marriage supper of the Lamb. Read about it in Revelation 19. Imagine what this will be like. This is a special event that you do not want to miss. How can you make sure you will be included?

Respond
Take some time to meditate on Revelation 3:20. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

Ask the Lord to show you if there is any area of your life where you are keeping the door closed to Him. Let the Lord search out your heart, wait on Him. He wants to draw close to you but may be waiting for you to open that door. Write out a prayer to Him about this.
