Lesson Six

In our last lesson, we explored how the oil that fuels the lampstand is often pictured as the Holy Spirit in the Bible. The lampstand is therefore a picture of the Holy Spirit shining into our hearts, fueling and empowering us to walk out a faithful life with the Lord. The Golden Lampstand also presents another picture for us as well. It is the picture of the lampstand lighting our path, showing us the way to go.

When we enter the Tabernacle the only visible light is the one that emanates from the Golden Lampstand. It’s seven lamps illumine the way. This one source of light reminds us of Jesus who said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”

The Golden Lampstand also pictures our life in Christ when we follow the path that He lights for us. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
